CBD Vape vs. CBD Oil: Which Is Better?

Buying CBD in 2022 isn’t as simple as it used to be. When the first CBD products began to hit the market a few years ago, buying CBD was a fairly simple process because CBD oil – an oil-based tincture taken orally – was the only type of CBD product that most retailers carried. Buying CBD was simply a matter of choosing a product from a reliable brand. These days, though, CBD is available in a much wider variety of different forms. You can eat it, swallow it or hold it under your tongue. You can rub CBD on your skin. You can even inhale it – and that’s the form of CBD use that this article is going to discuss.

When you vape CBD, you inhale it. Although traditional oral CBD oil has plenty of benefits, CBD absorbs differently when you inhale it – and that makes CBD vaping perfect for some people. So, what’s the best type of CBD for your needs? Should you buy a CBD vape, or would you be better off with CBD oil? In this article, we’ll help you find the answers.

What Is CBD Oil?

As we mentioned at the beginning of this article, CBD oil is an oil-based tincture that’s taken orally. It’s usually sold in a glass bottle with a dropper. You take it by squeezing a dropper of oil under your tongue and holding it there for a while before swallowing it. When you hold the oil under your tongue, a good portion of the CBD absorbs into your system through your sublingual artery. The rest absorbs through your digestive system.

What Are the Benefits of CBD Oil?

The biggest benefit of CBD oil is that it’s the most inexpensive and most readily available of all CBD products. Compared to other forms of CBD, CBD oil is relatively unprocessed and is just about as close as you can get to using the whole plant. Being nothing more than a plant extract and a carrier oil, CBD oil really isn’t that different from any other plant-based liquid supplement. Although the CBD market has grown rapidly over the past several years, CBD oil is still the most common type of CBD product that you can buy. It’s available virtually everywhere CBD is sold.

The second benefit of CBD oil is that sublingual administration allows the CBD to absorb into your body fairly quickly. It’s not as fast a vaping, but it’s definitely much faster than CBD products that are eaten or swallowed because absorption through the digestive system can take more than an hour.

What Are the Drawbacks of CBD Oil?

For many people, CBD oil is the perfect form of CBD. It absorbs into the bloodstream fairly quickly, and it’s inexpensive and readily available. For some people, though, the absorption speed of CBD oil isn’t quick enough. That’s why CBD vapes exist; we’ll discuss that at greater length momentarily.

Even if you’re not concerned about the absorption speed of a CBD product, there is another potential drawback of CBD oil in that some people aren’t fond of the taste. Some CBD oils do taste a little “hempy” and bitter. You may also find that you don’t enjoy the feeling of taking an oil-based product sublingually.

What Is CBD Vaping?

Vaping is the act of using an electronic device with a heating coil that vaporizes a liquid called “e-liquid” by heating it. When you inhale the vapor, the active ingredients in the liquid absorb into your bloodstream through your lungs. Vaping originated as a way to help people quit smoking. If you’re vaping for that purpose, you’ll usually use an e-liquid that contains nicotine. More recently, though, companies have discovered that they can serve the CBD market by creating e-liquids that contain CBD instead of nicotine.

What Types of CBD Vapes Are Available?

You’ll find three primary types of CBD vaping products when you buy from a high-end seller like Golden Remedy Wellness.

  • A disposable CBD vape is a self-contained device that’s charged, filled with CBD e-liquid, and ready for immediate use. You can remove it from the package and start vaping right away.
  • A CBD vape cartridge is a pre-filled container of CBD e-liquid that includes its own heating coil. To use the cartridge, you’ll need to attach it to a vape pen battery. Shops that sell CBD vape cartridges usually have vape pen supplies available as well.
  • CBD e-liquid is sold by the bottle and requires you to use your own vaping device. CBD e-liquid is often less expensive than other types of CBD vaping products, but you’ll need to use your own vape pen and tank.

What Are the Benefits of CBD Vaping?

As we alluded to above, the primary benefit of CBD vaping is that any active ingredient you inhale is absorbed into your bloodstream almost instantly. That’s exactly why nicotine vaping has helped many smokers quit even though those same people were unable to quit with traditional nicotine replacement products – and with CBD vaping, you get the same quick rate of absorption. If you want a way to use CBD that gets it into your bloodstream almost on demand, vaping is definitely the way to go.

For those who don’t care for the taste of CBD oil, CBD e-liquids also have a second benefit in that they taste great. CBD e-liquid has the same great flavors that have helped people around the world quit tobacco. Some makers of CBD e-liquid even add terpenes to mimic the flavors of popular cannabis strains.

What Are the Drawbacks of CBD Vaping?

One drawback of CBD vaping is that the products are actually some of the more expensive CBD products currently on the market. That’s especially true if you use disposable CBD vapes, which can be fairly costly if you need to buy a new device every few days. Using CBD e-liquid or pre-filled CBD cartridges can also be somewhat expensive – at least when you’re getting started – because you’ll also need to buy a vaping device. That, however, is a one-time purchase.

When we discuss the relatively high cost of CBD vaping products, we should note that some people have actually used CBD e-liquid – instead of nicotine e-liquid – to help themselves quit smoking. CBD vaping products might be more expensive than other CBD products, but they’re still less expensive than cigarettes. If you’re thinking about going that route, the price of the products shouldn’t bother you because you’ll still be saving money compared to smoking.
